More Food Than Mamas

Imagine that your entire kitchen island was full of food, and all of the table that you could see was the sink. As all the moms and their families entered our house everyone was in awe. It was actually amazing. Don’t worry, I made sure to take great pictures of it before they were even touched. There was cheese, grapes, nuts, bagels, croissants, and even mini Nutella’s. It was truly a work of art.

Mothers day has been something that has meant so much to my family since I was born. Someone always hosts a big celebration brunch each year to celebrate the amazing work our moms do, and this year it was us, and we went full out.

An hour before the guests arrived the table was being set up, and everytime I walked into the kitchen I felt my stomach pop. Once the guests arrived it was time to eat, and I didn’t know where to start. Do I eat a bagel? Cheese? Fruit? If you really wanted to know what I went with, I got a croissant, cheese, veggies, and salami. It was insane. Everyone picked at the tower of food, but it looked untouched by the end of the night. I thought it would be completely gone, as we were serving 25 people, but apparently we could have served this to fifty people. (Trust me, none of it is going to waste).

My cousins and I went on a walk to a playground while dessert was being set up. It’s always been a tradition in my new house to bring my cousins to the playground, I don’t know how it started. I swung for a while until I began to feel my stomach begin to hurt, but I couldn’t miss dessert, so I got off. Funny story! Well, we walked back and when I went inside I never realized how much food one household could hold. There were at least 5 platters of dessert (including my lemon-blueberry pound cake, which you would know about if you watched my @jujithefoodiechi insta story, yes that was a plug). There were chocolate-covered strawberries, carrot cake, tea cakes, cupcakes, etc. Dessert is always a hard one because you want to try everything, but you can't without wanting to puke. I grabbed a tea cake and my lemon pound cake. Both were delicious. I then took a small bite of the carrot cake, but it wasn’t a hit, maybe because it was gluten-free (no hate). It was almost salty, and had no good flavor. I bet there's a better gluten-free cake out there somewhere.

Good news, my lemon-blueberry cake was gone by the end of the night. Bad news, the grazing table wasn’t even close to gone. Now, our fridge is packed with yogurt parfaits, bagels, fruits and veggies. Please, if you want food, come over. It’s too much. But the grazing table was amazing, delicious, and a masterpiece. It was perfect for the event, but maybe not the amount of people, but still amazing. It was the center of attention, there was more food than mammas.
