My Truly Ettamazing Experience

Some things became better during the pandemic, but only a handful. Vaccine technology, science, delivery services, and surprisingly, Etta. The last time I went there I was in sixth grade, and it was pretty mediocre. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, it was good. Anything special? Nope. It kinda felt like a copy cat of Summer House. But oh my god, Etta was ettamazing (sorry for the pun).

The meal started off with some mocktails. On the left of me a friend had a virgin mojito, and on the right a bubbly “fruit punch”. The mojito was not my thing, it was too sour and didn’t have a lot of flavor. But, dang, that fruit punch. I took a sip, and I got a burst of pineapple, which I’m a sucker for. My friend gave it to me, as she hates “bubbles”. (spoiler, she ended up ordering another mocktail with no bubbles, but she also didn’t like it).

Next was their specialty, their famous focaccia, served with honey truffle ricotta. It was so airy, bubbly, and the outside was crisp. One of the best focaccia I’ve ever had, coming in second place behind Meredith Freese’s focaccia. The spread was amazing too. I love ricotta, truffle, and honey, so it was like heaven. Yum.

We talked for a bit as the service was a bit slow, but understood since it was a busy Friday night. The apps included some of the most basic teenager foods, burrata and meatballs. The burrata was delicious, and those meatballs were S.P.I.C.Y. They where named spicy meatballs, but I think they could drop some of the heat. But still, I would risk burning my mouth to eat those again.

Everybody thought I was insane when I said I wanted to order broccolini. “Why would you want to eat that?”

Fun fact, I didn’t. I wanted the roasted cauliflower, aka the best way to make vegetables. But people insisted on broccolini, but then changed their minds about it. I got it anyways. It was gone in minutes. It was so crunchy, lemony, and overall delicious. If you want to try broccolini, this is the way to do it.

Away from the green stuff, back to the yummers. Finally we had our margarita pizza, bolognese, and pomodoro. The pomodoro was one of the best pastas I’ve ever had. The sauce was so fresh, and the pasta was so buttery, making the perfect bite. I loved the large tubes of pasta. The bolognese was great too. The shape was interesting, I don’t think that would be my first choice, but the sauce was delicious. And the pizza. Honestly, it was so greasy for a wood-fired pizza. The bottom was liquidy, but the crust was great. I even spread some of the ricotta stuff on it.

Etta was amazing, and they even mentioned me in their story (which obviously made the experience 100x better). I would definitely recommend this restaurant for going out with friends, due to the liveliness and excitement the scenery brings. And please, order a (or a few) focaccia.
