(No)bu in (Mali)bu
There’s something about driving on the edge of the country that is so amazing. Sure, the beautiful ocean is twenty feet away from your car, and the cool breeze is amazing, but there’s something else. The sensation that I am on the edge of North America freezes me in time. Sometimes I can’t even comprehend it. How did this country get so lucky to have a highway that moves just on the edge of the country? I don’t know, but that drive makes me the happiest. I don’t even feel like I’m in America. No gas stations, fast food, just the ocean to your left, and tall rocky mountains to your right, and hills of houses off in the distance that look like Positano, Italy. How could anything make this scene better? It’s already the most amazing thing! Well, there’s just one thing, and one thing only, sushi.
The scenery at Nobu Malibu is absolutely breathtaking. If you're lucky enough, you get seated right next to the ocean. The salty ocean is just a breath away, and so is marine life.
“Omg! I just saw a dolphin!” I said.
“You're crazy, it's a bird,” replied Phoebe (sister).
“Dolphins don’t live that close to the surface,” continued Kevin (dad).
“Yes they do,” said me and Kathy (mom).
“Look! Again, a dolphin,” Julia said.
“Omg I see it!” said Phoebe.
And then there were three. As we sat down by the ocean, I noticed three dolphins swimming together. Things could not get better, but wait, they did. A black lab was playing fetch in the ocean with his owner. Shaggy the dog was, he was the entertainment. Dolphins, a soaked dog, and sushi. Was I day dreaming? When I touched the burning hot green tea I knew I wasn’t. That stuff was burning me, but it was good. I wouldn’t say it was the most amazing and authentic green tea, but it hit the spot.
The ocean breeze was chilly, yet so refreshing from the LA sun. All the sushi was absolutely amazing, same goes for all the dishes ordered. But I have to say, the best part wasn’t the food, but the setting (that's a lot coming from a sushi fanatic). That's all Nobu Malibu is about. There is no place on this earth where I have felt more like I am in a simulation, or that this planet we call home is real. All the pieces just fell in place perfectly. Yes, there is a Nobu in LA, so why drive forty-five minutes to the same restaurant? By now you probably understand, but the views are just incredible. Plus, the drive is beautiful too. The experience is like no other. I could come here and order nothing and still be satisfied (probably still hungry tho). Nobu Malibu, I love you.
